About ASUS
ASUS takes it's name from Pegasus, and soars to new heights with each new product it creates.
The Meaning of ASUS
ASUS takes its name from Pegasus, the winged horse in Greek mythology that symbolizes wisdom and knowledge. ASUS embodies the strength, purity, and adventurous spirit of this fantastic creature, and soars to new heights with each new product it creates.
Innovation is key to the success of ASUS. Having unveiled the PadFone to a rapturous audience at Computex 2011, this year ASUS chairman Jonney Shih raised the bar once more with the announcement of the TAICHI and Transformer Book dual-purpose mobile devices.
In Search of Incredible
ASUS continues to deliver on ourIn Search of Incredible promiseas we strive to become the world's most admired leading enterprise in the new digital era. OurIn Search of Incrediblecampaign, launched in 2011, symbolizes ourDesign Thinking – Start with Peoplephilosophy. It extends beyond product design and development, sales and marketing, and illustrates the ASUS commitment to making life better through innovation.
Corporate Social Responsibility
In April 2008, ASUS joined hands with Intel and Tsann Kuen Enterprise to launch "PC Recycling for a Brighter Future" in Taiwan, a collaborative takeback program that aims to collect and recycle old notebooks, PCs and LCD monitors in a bid to benefit needy communities as well as the environment.
The "PC Recycling for a Brighter Future" program encourages consumers to recycle their used devices at dedicated collection points, such as ASUS Royal Clubs, Tsann Kuen 3C chain stores and DF Recycle. A discount voucher is issued for each desktop computer, notebook or CRT/LCD monitor—regardless of brand—brought in.
As a result of the program, more than 1,200 used products obtained from corporate, government and individual donors were refurbished and subsequently donated to needy users. Beneficiaries included 122 elementary and junior high schools, five aboriginal communities and the Tzu Chi Stem Cell Center.
On a related note, ASUS has—since September 2006—been running a free notebook takeback and recycling program for its customers in the United States. ASUS is the first Taiwanese company to provide such a service in the United States.
"ASUS is passionate about technology and driven by innovation. We dream, we dare and we strive to create an effortless and joyful digital life for everyone."
- Jonney Shih, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Chairman
